Navigate to the file/folder you would like to share and press the Share button

Toggle the Share Link option to Shared link is created

Make sure the option under the link is set to People with the link

Now select the Link Settings option

By default, the link will be set to expire 30 days from the time that it is created. You can manually change this to be longer or shorter by selecting the calendar option next to the date that automatically populates.

Password Protect is now an option. Make sure that it is enabled and create a password that is at least 8 characters, contains one upper case and one lower case letter, number, and special character. Make sure this is recorded as this is the password you will send to the end user to gain access to the file

You can now choose what level of access you would like the end user to have for the file you are sharing

Once you have chosen the level of access, click Copy next to the link to automatically copy the link to your clipboard

To share the link most securely, paste the link into an email to send to the end user then call them to provide the password over the phone. DO NOT send the share link and the password in the same email, because the file/folder would then be accessible if the email is intercepted

The end user then simply has to copy and paste the shared link from the email into any web browser and input the password that you share with them to access the file/folder

Just like that, you have securely shared a file or folder with an external entity.
